Three Years, Dozens of Games, One Unforgettable Community
On Nov 2nd, we celebrate three years of casual hands, shared jokes, and something bigger: the slow work of building queer community — one game at a time.
What’s Happening
We’re marking three years of Queer Poker — a low-stakes, community-first game night for queer folks who like cards, connection, and a little bit of chaos (the fun kind). Whether you’ve been with us since day one or have never played a hand, this is your invite.
When & Where
Date: Sunday, November 2nd
Time: 7:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Location: Near MacArthur BART in Oakland — RSVP for the exact address. Please note: the game room is up one flight of stairs.
What to Expect
Low-stakes, casual play. No pressure. No gatekeeping. Just a room full of queers playing cards, making friends, and keeping the vibes right. If you’ve never played poker before, don’t worry — we’ll help you learn. In fact, the illustrious Sasha will be running the beginners table, which makes it ripe for a raucous good time. Sasha brings the action. (Thanks, Sasha!)
We’ll be doing our usual setup: low-stakes buy-in, flexible play, and plenty of chances to jump in or out throughout the night.
Funds tight this month? Totally fine. If someone cancels, they’ll forfeit their seat — and it becomes yours to claim for free. Keep an eye on the group chat for those openings.
Why It Matters
This isn’t just about poker. It’s about rebuilding our queer social fabric in a post-COVID, social-media saturated world. It’s about showing up, being seen, and getting to know each other around a shared table. It’s about staying connected and making room for new faces. It's about slowly stitching together our queer civic infrastructure - one that helps us stay less isolated, more resourced, and harder to divide.
So use the night as a chance to sit next to someone new and strike up a conversation.
Who Comes
New faces. Familiar ones. Folks who’ve never played before. People trying to make local friends. The queer poker crew includes the full alphabet of LGBTQIA+, and you don’t need to be good at cards.
We keep it casual, low-stakes, and welcoming. Buy-in is light and the real win is staying connected.
How to Join
Search for the “Queer Poker” group on Lex. Once you’re in, you'll find details for how to RSVP for the evening.
Come celebrate what we’ve built together. Bring a snack, bring a friend, bring your poker face — or don’t. Either way, we’re just glad you’re here.
